You will see quite a variety of homes and buildings along the Mekong. Small shops and dwellings back right on to the river and they must be in great danger during flooding. The homes are of different quality with some being no more than bamboo shelters while others are of a more modern appearance. As you travel along the river you will see people just getting on with life, washing clothes, cooking or swinging in a hammock.
