It certainly pays to wander down the back street of Hoi An because you'll be surprised at what you can see. One afternoon I took a walk near out Resort and came across a house with a large number of ducklings in a basket. There were hundreds of them and they were quite amusing to the children who were nearby. Talking of ducks Hoi An has some very nice restaurants. A lot of traffic disappears from the narrow streets at night and so it is quite easy to wander around and shop and eat. Sometimes it is difficult to make the waitress completely understand what you want but it all works out OK in the end. The prices are ridiculously cheap and the food is generally good. It is not uncommon to see pets in the restaurants, usually endearing ones.
