One day while walking across the bridge from our resort we were approached by a young student called My (pronounced "Mee") who asked us if we would like to go for a trip on her family boat. My lived in a little house on stilts beside the resort. We accepted her invitation and so had the pleasure of meeting her family. My spoke goo d English and is a very conscientious student. She gave us a poem which I promised to publish on the Net for her. Here it is and I'm sure you will agree it is very fine writing for a 14 year old:

LET'S HELP THE CHILDREN

Let's give children all our wishes
Let's give children family feeling
Let's give children dreams and hopes
Let's give children our finest heart.
All people let's help the children, let's help the children
Children are buds on a tree, children are young bamboo, children are bright stars for our future.
All people, let's help the children, let's help the children.
So as to build our future

Our friends living beside the river. Fishing nets. The fishing nets are raised and lowered using this pedal system. Living on the river. Our friend My in the house beside the river organizes a day trip for us on her boat. My is on the front of the boat and her sister Hanh near camera. My with her sister Hanh and father Can. Small houses by the river. House building materials. Raising ducks. Hanh is a happy little girl. We take a walk down to My's grandmother's house. My, Hanh with their grandmother and Lorraine. Their house beside the river. Kitchen and bedroom. House with river view.
