Danang is the gateway to Hoi An. Danang is a large city of over one million people. However it is well spread out and looks very good from the air and the ground. If you arrive at Danang by train or air you will need to get a taxi to Hoi An. The taxi drivers are somewhat overbearing and some tend to drive quite dangerously. Try to select one who is sober in temperament. When we arrived in Hoi An we checked into the Pho Hoi Resort which is located just over the bridge from the main town. We had to insist that our taxi take us there as their preference is to drop tourists to hotels where they receive a kick back. The Pho Hoi Resort has a lovely view of the river and is very well appointed. The staff are friendly and we are happy to recommend this Resort as a good place to stay when you visit Hoi An. The tariff was very reasonable.
