The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has an excellent bookshop which primarily provides information on diverse ethnic communities and groups. Thoroughout the Museum there are excellent dioramas portraying life among tribal people. This is a good place to visit prior to making the trip to Sapa. A traditional black Thai house has been constructed within the Museum. The grounds around the Museum are well laid out and it is a good place for a picnic.
