As our houseboat was mooring at Titop Island a photojournalist in our group momentarily placed his camera gear on the ledge of the boat. Another houseboat nearby bumped our vessel and his camera bag, containing a special Nikon film camera, feel over the edge into the Bay. He immediately dived and retrived the gear but his equipment was ruined as well as several rolls of film. This was a great pity as he had come to Halong Bay to get some good pictures. It certainly pays not to place any objects on the ledge of the ship as bumps and rolls are a normal part of the journey. Fortunately our friend was able to get a replacement for the same camera in Hanoi a few days later. REGION: South East Asia > Vietnam > Halong Bay |
